Luxurious expeditions to Greenland and Iceland

Polar bears. Humpback whales. Listening to calving glaciers in the icy silence of a fjord. The midnight sun. House-high icebergs. Greenland is a fantastic destination but has few hotels. The country has the largest nature reserve in the world and yet it is almost impossible to get there except by ship. The newest expedition ship, Seabourn Venture, has the solution. In the summer of 2024, Seabourn Venture will sail between Iceland and Greenland. This period is ideal because of the midnight sun.

Expedition ships are a separate category in the cruising world, with two main features: the ship's hull is extra sturdy, allowing for risk-free sailing in ice-rich areas. An expedition ship takes you to the most extreme polar destinations, where there are usually no ports. That is why zodiacs are indispensable. They are extremely strong rubber boats that allow passengers to go ashore safely, even in the raw nature of Greenland.

At Seabourn they add a good dose of luxury to the adventure. Seabourn Venture is a thoroughbred expedition ship and an ultra-luxurious boutique ship. The luxury is reflected in the design, the exceptional service, the beautiful suites with veranda, the restaurants, etc.

The designers have designed the ship in such a way that you can fully enjoy the phenomenal landscapes on board. Windows are oversized, from the observation lounge and suites to the sauna. The outside decks are spacious, to optimally see every polar bear, every whale. Swarovski Optik binoculars are provided in the suites, and each passenger receives a Helly Hansen parka.

Seabourn Venture has 24 zodiacs, 10 kayaks and two dive boats.

The luxury is also made by the expedition team. Specialists and scientists ensure that passengers intensely experience the destination and learn about it.

GREENLAND & ICELAND

With Reykjavik as a summer base, we set course for Greenland.

The east coast is rough and less inhabited because of the polar currents. These also determine the navigation. As the season progresses, you can sail further north, to the Skjoldungen Fjord, settlements such as Tasiilaq and Ittoqqortoormiit, the Scoresby Sund and the King Oscar Fjord in the largest nature park in the world. At that moment, amid the drifting ice, you realize that only purpose-built ships like Seabourn Venture can sail here. Prices p/p from €9,199. In August, the East Coast of Greenland is also combined with a cruise around Iceland.

“Being able to sail in these landscapes of mountains, fjords, ice and fire is unparalleled. These are once-in-a-lifetime trips you will never forget.”
