Pedro Verfaille, manager at Voyage Unique, was recently invited to experience an expedition cruise with the luxury shipping company Seabourn. He was allowed to board the 'Venture', their latest high-tech and environmentally friendly ship that was specially built to sail in various sailing areas in accordance with the PC6 Polar Class standards, such as in cold water areas in the Arctic zone as well as in warm water areas such as the Amazon.
It is truly a combination of ultra luxury and adventure at the highest level. So if you want a unique expedition, but want to continue to experience the luxury of a small-scale boutique ship, then Seabourn's 'Venture' and 'Pursuit' are the perfect choice!
Pedro's fantastic experience started in Lerwick (Shetland Islands). There he boarded and was immediately immersed in the luxurious setting of the ship, in combination with the highly professional approach of the staff and the expedition team.
Everyone was taken for a tour of the ship where all practical information was given about how the “once in a lifetime experience” would go. This started with an extensive explanation of the route, then about Seabourn's values & standards at the destinations, followed by a fitting of the parka and boots.
Once he left, he immediately experienced the friendly atmosphere on board, incomparable to any other cruise. All passengers all have the same goal, namely active discovery and becoming one with nature. The excellent expedition team on board made this all so special thanks to their numerous lectures and information sessions about the fauna & flora at the various destinations. The zodiac 'landings' in Iceland were spectacular and took place in remote places that are inaccessible to others. Wonderfully desolate, exciting and unbelievably beautiful! One of these was the Seydisfjörður waterfalls, where our reporter was able to walk from getting out all the way to the waterfalls. An incredible experience!
Seabourn also has a very high culinary standard and managed to surprise Pedro and his colleagues every day with delicious à la carte menus. And yes, dining here was quite exciting and different!
The expedition team continues to search day and night for what can be seen in and around the sea. Suddenly they received a message over the intercom that a school of whales had been spotted around the boat. Without hesitation, everyone dropped their knives and forks and walked outside in a disciplined manner to admire the incredible spectacle. They immediately noticed that everyone made this trip with the same mission, namely to gain unique experiences and go home positively "touched". As if it all couldn't be spectacular enough, he was also allowed to take a dive with one of their ultra-sophisticated submarines. Pure adrenaline and an experience you will never forget!
All in all, an expedition cruise with the Seabourn shipping company is down to the last detail and highly recommended. It is certainly impossible to return home disappointed. The experience factor as well as the professionalism were top!
